What happens during the MOT?
During the MOT, important parts on your vehicle will be checked to make sure they meet the legal standards.
It isn’t the same as having your vehicle serviced and doesn’t check its general mechanical condition.
The test doesn’t cover the condition of the:
- Engine
- Clutch
- Gearbox

Why do we MOT?
To make sure that we are all as safe as possible on the roads today, both the law and VOSA require that EVERY car has a MOT once it is three years old.
This is because an MOT ensures that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition and is safe for you to drive on our roads.
After the MOT
The results are uploaded onto a central database, and depending if your vehicle passed or not, you will receive a MOT pass certificate or a notification of failure. If your car does fail, you’ll also be given an advisory notice for any recommended repairs for the car.
