OUR HISTORY

Following the closure of H&L Garages, the Mercedes-Benz commercial dealer in Lincoln, former H&L employee Peter Frohmaier and his wife Sarah saw an opportunity and decided start a new business maintaining and servicing Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles. The new business, S&P Garages Ltd., opened its doors on 3 January 2012, just one month after H&L ceased trading. S&P Garages is situated on the old H&L site on Wrightsway, off Outer Circle Road, in Lincoln. As soon as they started trading requests flooded in and the business soon expanded to take care of non-commercial and other makes of vehicle.

The core of the S&P Garages\' business is to maintain, service and MOT customers\' vehicles. The business has the ability to deal with all types of vehicle, big or small. Basically if it\'s got four wheels or more S&P Garages can fix it!

On 18 July 2012, just six months after starting our new business, S&P Garages were awarded Mercedes-Benz Truck & Van & Mitsubishi Canter Approved Repairer Status. This means that S&P Garages can undertake warranty repairs and undertake repair and maintenance work that can be submitted directly to the manufacturer. This approval also means that we can supply genuine parts direct from the manufacturer.

In 2013 Peter & Sarah realised that there was another huge opportunity for their business, Mercedes Benz cars. With already holding the Mercedes Benz Truck & Van approval Peter soon realised that a lot of the tooling and diagnostic equipment was the same for vans and cars. So Peter decided to recruit some technicians with Mercedes Benz car experience and start to advertise that S&P Garages are now an Independent Mercedes Benz car specialist who are able to deliver a main dealer experience at a vastly reduced price compared to the main dealer. Today Mercedes Benz cars represent just over 1/3 of S&P Garages business so clearly it was a good idea!

In July 2015 S&P opened our state of the art tachograph bay as an addition to our ever expanding workshop. This enables S&P to carry out tachograph calibrations on both digital and analogue systems. As well as being able to carry out calibrations, our fully qualified tachograph engineers are able to fit tachograph systems to any vehicle capable of having one and also diagnose and repair any faults with current systems fitted to any vehicle.
